NGOReview Flights & Airports: AC 8125 YVR-YXC

As my first Air Canada flight, I had a splendid experience!  Though it was the Express service, operated by Jazz, it still gave me a great impression of Air Canada as a whole.

·     Check-in staff were extremely friendly with great smile, offered help and provided detailed directions
Hold-room Boarding
·     Though a bit casual, the gate agent was again extremely friendly with great smile

Inflight
·     Flight attendant had great enthusiasm, offered friendly directions and great smile
·     While the flight attendant was collecting garbage, I was trying to reach the seat pocket for my emptied iced-coffee cup. As I tried to pull out the cup, the flight attendant showed exceptional care by reminding me to watch out for my cup of coke that is on the tray.  This is “wow” service!  Bonus point!

Prior take-off
·     Flight Attendant’s PA was a bit soft, but in polite tone
·     Captain’s PA was too soft, barely heard anything

After take-off
·     PA was again a bit soft, but still audible, friendly tone

·     Designated commuter facility for AC Express operations
·     Priority boarding for special assistance, then loyalty status

·     A usual demo was presented, performed live in English, followed by a French recording
·     Did not notice the flight attendant asking PAX on exit rows if they are able to evacuate aircraft in the case of an emergency

Cabin Style
·     Standard cabin design (aircraft was old anyways)
·     Great leg room, though only 31” pitch, the simple slim seats made it felt like a lot more room for stretching
·     I loved the maple leaf patterned curtains! (*See Photo #1)   
·     Washroom with no water (usual in Dash-8s) – not a fan of that!

Inflight Food & Drinks
·     Despite the short flight, I was surprised by the variety of complimentary drinks that were offered
·     The pretzel snack was of great quality! (*See Photo #2)     
·     Flight attendant asked if we wanted a full can, and asked again if we wanted more pretzels on the way back to the galley.  This to me was outstanding services!  It may be the company policy to save cost and offer only a cup, but I’ve seen many times when at the end, the half poured cans were disposed into the sink.  Why not just offer full cans instead of wasting them?  I think there is a higher chance for PAX to finish the complete can, considering the dry atmosphere inflight.

·     No in-seat TVs, just an En-route Magazine
·     Had my iPad with me so it was good enough for the short 1.5 hour, but not sure if it was boring for those without electronic devices though
